What is Liminal Space?

If you have done any minimal level of research on elementals, fairies, gnomes, elves, hudulfolk or anything else of the like then you probably have at some point heard that one of the best ways to be able to see them and connect with them is in liminal space.

But what does that mean exactly?

If you have ever watched Charmed (the original one from the 90's not the new remake) then you might remember that there was an episode in which Prue and Phoebe actually deal with this exact concept of liminal space in order to help out a little girl protect the fairy princes from goblins...or dwarves...I forget which to be honest.

But I digress.

In that they mention briefly about liminal spaces being the space between spaces.

In other words areas in your everyday that are transitionary areas. These are areas such as shadows, doorways, windows...anything that is a transition from room to room, outside to inside, light to dark, under the bed, in the closet, garages, underground parking areas...you get the drift.

Those areas are liminal spaces.

Liminal spaces can be a very beneficial tool when you are starting out.

You can utilise them to do exactly what Prue and Phoebe in Charmed did..which is to see elementals and fairies and spirits, but you can also use them to aid in things like astral travel, meditation and intention setting.

These spaces can also be good areas to do things like meditate with the intention to meet your spirit guide or to do shamanic journeys.

Children are especially sensitive and prone to liminal spaces (hence the whole concept and idea of "monsters" under the bed or in the closet).

Liminal spaces are also spaces that typically don't regularly get cleansed often enough or properly so make sure to take care of all those spaces in your cleansing and clearing rituals as well.
